Lead Artists are hired as contractors mainly for the Summer Program, but there may be opportunities that arise throughout the year. Other than the instances where a client would like our youth apprentices to design and undertake the entire project, the Lead Artist is responsible for the commission design, and our apprentices work alongside the artist--from design stage through installation/completetion--in a hands-on manner. Lead Artists must be able to utilize apprentice workers to maximize the apprentices' current skills as well as foster expanding their skills, while serving in the role of a mentor and teacher. Teaching experience is not a requirement, but interest in arts education and experience with leading a collaborative artistic team are preferred.

Teaching Artists are hired as contractors during our Summer Program to teach a particular style or medium to apprentices and youth interns, ususally over one or two weeks. The students produce functional artwork in the assigned style or medium, which is then auctioned or sold during our Party for Art. These pieces help to fund the scholarships that apprentices receive to participate in the program, while providing another opportunity for apprentices to produce professional work.
